// the short version
Privacy Policy
This is a static website. We don't run analytics, we don't set cookies, and we don't sell your data. The only time we see personal information is when you choose to send us a message.

Who runs this site
dumbsms.com is operated by Evan Edwards (e2@dumbsms.com) as a personal hobby project. It promotes and documents dumbsms, free software for texting from a computer through a connected flip phone.
What we don't collect
- No accounts or logins on this website.
- No analytics, ad trackers, or marketing pixels.
- No cookies set by us — we don't use a cookie banner because there is nothing to accept.
- No newsletter signup and no mailing list.
- No sale, rental, or sharing of personal data for advertising.
What we do collect (only if you send it)
If you use the contact form or the phone compatibility request form, you voluntarily submit your name, email address, and message. That submission is processed by Netlify Forms and delivered to my inbox. I use it only to reply to you. I don't add you to a list or pass it along to anyone else.
If you use the Tip Jar, you leave this site for PayPal. PayPal handles the payment and has its own privacy policy — I only see whatever PayPal shows me about the tip (typically a name and amount, not your full card details).
Hosting and infrastructure
The site is built as static HTML and hosted on Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify may log standard request metadata (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and operations. See Netlify's privacy policy for details. I don't pull those logs into my own analytics.
Third-party links
Some pages link out to other sites (for example Noble Mobile, PayPal, or the GNU license text). Those sites have their own policies; this one ends when you click away.
The dumbsms app is separate
This policy covers dumbsms.com only. The dumbsms desktop app and Android companion are local software — your messages stay on your computer and phone. The app does not include telemetry nor does it require an account. See About for the project principles.
Children
This site isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child submitted a form, email me and I'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will update. Substantive changes will also be noted here. Continued use of the site after an update means you're okay with the revised policy.
